TEACHING PROGRAMME

We are pleased to be able to announce that the DBC is open for teachings and our usual Buddhist gatherings. We ask that anybody visiting the Centre uses the covid tracer app or signs in on the sheet in the hallway and continues to be vigilant with hand hygiene. If you feel unwell at all,  please avoid coming to the Centre.

 

Our last date for teaching in 2020 will be Sunday 6th December  with the usual 11 am Teaching by Geshe Dhonye

གང་ཕྱིར་བརྩེ་ཉིད་རྒྱལ་བའི་ལོ་ཐོག་ཕུན་ཚོགས་འདིའི། །

Love is the seed of this abundant harvest of buddhahood.

ས་བོན་དང་ནི་སྤེལ་ལ་ཆུར་འདྲ་ཡུན་རིང་དུ། །

It is like the water which causes growth and expansion,

ལོངས་སྤྱོད་གནས་ལ་སྨིན་པ་ལྟ་བུར་འདོད་གྱུར་པ། །

And it ripens into the state of lasting enjoyment,

དེ་ཕྱིར་བདག་གིས་ཐོག་མར་སྙིང་རྗེ་བསྟོད་པར་བགྱི། །

Therefore at the outset I shall praise compassion!

Regular Teachings for 2020 recommenced 28th June and 9th July and finish on Sunday 6th December 2020

SUNDAYS  11am-12:00pm

Sunday classes taught by Geshe-la provide a general overview of the Buddhist world view, alongside meditation instruction and Q&A sessions. 

 

THURSDAYS 7:30-8.30pm

Geshe-la is teaching the 37 practices of the Bodhisattva. Teachings include an explanation of the short text, meditation instruction and Q&A sessions. 

                                                         INTRODUCTION TO BUDDHISM COURSE

THIS COURSE IS NOW FULL - PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OPEN FOR NEXT YEARS AND FEEL FREE TO COME TO TEACHINGS IN THE MEANTIME - EVERYONE IS WELCOME.

We run two courses of beginner's classes each year, each of 12 weeks duration, called "Introduction to Buddhism" on mainly Monday nights (subject to change due to other events at the centre such as Tsog). These courses require registration due to limited numbers per course and are advertised on our Facebook page with registration through Eventbrite.

Buddhist practice focuses on the perfection of generosity – one of six primary virtues – so we have structured the Centre to promote this virtue. There is no charge for the teachings and they are open to the public.
